This train actually runs through the city that a lot of tourists take to see the sites. It looks like an over sized toy

Also….we ended up having to walk 4 miles home last night (not alone though)…which apparently is not a big deal in Deutschland….I better have a damn good ass after these next five months.

I bought a plant!! My bare, white room was in desperate need of some color, so I decided to get a new little friend….her name is Heidi. :)

Last night was one for the books. We had a dinner party with a big group of people that we’ve made friends with since we moved here. There were 15 of us and everyone brought a dish, so much fun! The food was great and the company was better.
After dinner we all went to the Irish Pub for karaoke night, a surprisingly large handful of us ventured to the stage. That was an experience haha…
Another buddy of ours has a flat on the top of an apartment building and so we went to his place after to party on the roof. It was an incredible view, looking out over all of Trier. I’ll be sure to take pictures next time!

New Favorite Deutsch Sentence

“HABEN SIE HEUTE SCHON JEMANDEM EINE FREUNDE GEMACHT”

It means, “Have you made someone happy today?” What a great phrase to learn and live by. It was written up in the window of a little shop. So cool.

Cake Day

Spent the afternoon in the city square today with Nancy and then walked back to her apartment, it was quite the hike but very quaint! We baked for the first time tonight a chocolate lava tort…took  a bit to decipher the Deutsch instructions but was delicious! Our dinner consisted of bread, chocolate and wine. Possibly the best meal I’ve had yet.
Been cooking a lot so far, great produce here – fresh and cheap! I hope to pick up some great cooking habits and learn to make all different kinds of food while we travel.

Going out to a couple small local bars this evening, hopefully we can meet some more students from the Uni and practice our Deutsch skills.
